Clipbank is a cross-curricular video resource for secondary schools, arranged in sixteen subject areas along with additional features including daily news bulletins, learning paths, guidance on PLTS and mapping to exam board specifications. Each video has a transcript and vocabulary section, and in the case of foreign language clips a translation. Teachers are able to use this material to create their own resources by 'dragging and dropping' the text into programs such as MIcrosoft Word or interactive whiteboard software, and the clips themselves can be embedded into PowerPoint presentations and pages on the school learning platform. There is also a facility to download entire clips and edit them in programs such as Windows Movie Maker, allowing teachers and students to create their own video projects.
Training sessions are included in the subscription cost and can cover a wide variety of topics according to the individual needs of the school. Suggestions include:
An overview of Clipbank to the whole school staff
Subject-specific planning sessions with small groups of teachers
Home learning workshops for parents
Advanced skills workshops on the use of Clipbank with interactive whiteboards or editing clips with Movie Maker
Subscribing schools can arrange their training session using this online form or by calling 0800 6 527 527 (option 3).
