Orangery Education Ltd believes that the effectiveness of any educational technology product is dependent on the way in which it is used in the classroom, and as such it is necessary to equip users with the skills and confidence to use the product to its full potential.

We have teamed up with the suppliers of leading-brand hardware and software products to bring you accredited training - delivered by instructors who are not only experts in their field but who have each undergone a rigorous certification process. In other words, you will be working with teaching professional, not an IT technician. The list of products which we currently support can be seen on the left.

In our opinion there are four levels of interactive whiteboard usage:

• 1: Projection – at this stage, the whiteboard is used as a projection screen for resources such as websites and PowerPoint presentations. Some users use the stylus (or finger) in place of the mouse to control applications.
• 2: Interaction with Windows programs – users annotate over programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and save their annotations for future use. Some users will start to experiment with desktop/floating tools, for example to capture images from a website.
• 3: Use of the whiteboard software – users at this stage are starting to make use of the software as a teaching tool, and are creating and storing basic flipcharts. They also use ready-made resources within the software.
• 4: Resource creation – level 4 describes users who are using the whiteboard software to create their own fully interactive resources, which may include multimedia elements.
