From time to time we are asked to contribute to or collate examples of good practice in our specialist areas. Details of selected past publications can be found below.
Following a Comenius Regio funded project linking schools in Durham County Council and le Conseil Général de la Somme, the Shrinking The Channel guide was produced in 2011 and includes detailed instructions on setting up video conferences, collaboration through screen and file sharing, and an evaluation of selected ICT resources suitable for use by schools involved in international collaborative projects.
The ECML publication E-Vollution: A Training Manual for Using Networked Technologies in Vocationally Oriented Language Learning (VOLL) includes an article written collaboratively by Steve Mulgrew of Orangery Education and Natalja Cigankova of the University of Latvia. The article describes the technology and methodology used in international webinars to support VOLL.
A second edition of the Comenius Good Practice Guide was commissioned in 2009, this time featuring 30 case studies from across the region, and again distributed to every school in the North-East.
Intended as a vehicle for sharing good practice, this publication contains 23 case studies from language teachers involved in primary, secondary and further education in the North-East of England. Commissioned by the Comenius network, copies of this guide were distributed to every school in the region and showcased at regional conferences.
