Dr Mark Biddiss & Nikki Biddiss

Dr Mark's INSPIREducation

‘Dr Mark’ & Nikki Biddiss between them have many years' of supervisory, management and director-level experience, including conducting Continuing Professional Development (CPD/INSET) staff training.

Nikki was a fast-tracked graduate for a national bank, by her late-20s becoming one of the youngest female directors in the bank's history. In 2007 she chose a career change into medicine, health and wellbeing. As well as teaming-up with ‘Dr Mark’ (her husband) in this ‘INSPIREcpd’ project, Nikki is currently a senior therapist at a clinic in Glasgow and also runs he own successful private health and well-being consultancy business.

After a successful career in industry and a 6-year university career-change, since 1996 'Dr Mark' has been a Science & Maths Provider, Teacher Trainer, Author and Cognitive Coach & Mentor. As well as teaming-up with Nikki in this ‘INSPIREcpd’ project, ‘Dr Mark’ made his name in education delivering a range of fun and lively science and maths pupil shows in-school, science and maths teacher CPD/INSET options, has writing eight teachers books, two pupil books and a range of associated derivative CDROMs, DVDs and other digital products. Dr Mark was featured in a Teachers' TV programme about his work: 'INSPIRATIONS: Magical Science & Maths'.

To achieve all the above Mark and Nikki have both needed to maintain high-levels of energy and wellbeing, successfully manage stress, and stay highly inspired, engaged and motivated to achieve their many work and life goals. And having both trained in various aspects of the cognitive and behavioural sciences, including coaching and mentoring, they are well qualified to deliver 'life-changing' CPD training.

Isabelle Jones

Isabelle Jones has been a Head of Languages in two different schools since 2002. She is a French & Spanish specialist with experience of secondary and primary language teaching. She has been a PGCE subject mentor since 2003 and regularly supports local universities as a session lecturer.

She has had articles published by the TES, The Guardian, Sec Ed and the French journal and magazine of the Association for Language Learning (ALL). She has also been involved more recently as a reviewer for the BBC and Nelson Thornes.

She was a regional subject adviser for ALL and a language trainer and consultant for Links into Languages, which led her to speak at languages training events all around England.

Her areas of interest are languages with ICT, EAL, creativity and Thinking Skills.

Steve Mulgrew

Orangery Education Ltd

Steve Mulgrew teaches German and French at a leading North-East comprehensive school. As well as having previously held posts as Head of MFL and Head of ICT, he has worked as a Regional Subject Adviser with the National Strategies, Regional Trainer for Key Stage 2 and 3 Modern Languages and as a consultant for Comenius North East. In 2010 he published a comprehensive set of materials to support the teaching of French and Spanish at Key Stage 2. Examples of the training and support which he currently provides to MFL teachers include subject leadership, assessment and engagement strategies.

Alongside his MFL specialism Steve is also an accredited consultant for a range of classroom technology solutions, including SMART, Promethean and EasiTeach, and advises schools on the most appropriate way to make use of their investment. Finally, he is an accredited assessor for the e-safety Mark and is able to support school staff, pupils and parents on a range of e-safety issues.

Clare Seccombe

Ideas Education Ltd

Clare Seccombe was a secondary languages teacher for fourteen years, for seven of those an AST specialising in primary languages and the international dimension. In 2009 she changed phases and now teaches Spanish and French in Sunderland primary schools as well as speaking at conferences, training teachers and trainee teachers, writing for publishers and making resources. Clare is an avid blogger and tweeter who set up and maintains the website Light Bulb Languages (formerly MFL Sunderland).

Sue Cave

Cave Languages

Sue Cave is a former LA adviser for primary languages and Primary MFL outreach teacher for a language college. She has more than 20 years-experience teaching French in primary schools. Her experience in the delivery of training courses is extensive having delivered both methodology and linguistic upskilling courses for primary teachers at a local level as well as presenting at national conferences. Currently, Sue works for ‘Cave Languages’ as an independent consultant, trainer and Primary MFL specialist teacher and supports numerous schools in the Thames Valley. As a member of the Association for Language Learning, she coordinates a local primary languages support and network group. Her passions are the importance of teaching phonics and the use of engaging classroom activities to develop understanding about a language. She is the author of two resource books for primary MFL classroom activities and co-author of a kinaesthetic method for teaching French phonics ‘Physical French Phonics’.

Jon Kurta

Jon Kurta Maths Consultancy

Jon Kurta is a highly regarded teacher, teacher trainer, writer and former LA Consultant who has over 30 years’ experience working in Primary Schools with a wide variety of children, teachers, subject leads, TAs, SLTs and whole-staff groups.

He is passionate about developing sound and sustainable pedagogical approaches to the teaching of mathematics, accessible and manageable classroom activities for teachers and their pupils and working with schools to ensure a consistent whole school approach to planning, teaching and assessment of maths.

Danny Nicholson

Danny Nicholson is an independent trainer and consultant. He is a former science teacher and now delivers ICT and science training to teachers all over the UK as well as overseas. In addition he is also a science PGCE lecturer working with student teachers on several SCITT courses around the South East.

Sarah Pavey

With a degree in biochemistry and a masters in information science, Sarah Pavey has 20 years’ experience as a professionally qualified librarian in schools both in the independent and maintained sectors. She holds Fellowship of CILIP. Sarah has also worked in pharmaceuticals as an information scientist and in qualitative market research. She specialises in information skills / information literacy training courses for librarians, teachers and students. As a consultant Sarah has helped set up modern school libraries with an emphasis on digital resources. Jenny Townsend

Townsend Consultancy Ltd

Jenny Townsend has spent 30 years working in schools in both teaching and managerial roles. She has also managed large adult and community programmes for all age groups. Since 2007 she has been the Director of her own very successful education consultancy company called Townsend Consultancy Ltd. She regularly provides school improvement support to both primary and secondary schools. She is a community education specialist.
